The Hong Kong International Numismatic Fair (hereafter HKINF) deeply regrets and objects to an ungrounded statement issued by certain parties alleging that the official Chinese name of HKINF is changed recently with the intention to mimic the name of their show.
HKINF was first organized in December 2015 at the Mira Hong Kong Hotel by Eternity Numismatic Co., Ltd., with Heritage Auctions as its official Auctioneer. Starting from the 7th HKINF (December 7-9, 2018), the official Chinese name of HKINF will be changed from “恒博香港國際錢幣展銷會” to “香港國際錢幣展銷會” for the following reasons:
- To keep the Chinese name of HKINF consistent with its English name
After the deduction of the two Chinese characters “恒博”, the Chinese name of HKINF is now consistent with the official English name in meaning.
- To signify future cooperation with the Hong Kong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair (HICC hereafter)
Held in the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong Hotel, HICC is the longest-running coin show in Hong Kong. From March 2019 onwards, HKINF will work closely with HICC as the co-organizer and thus the Chinese name of HKINF is changed in accordance with HICC to signify a new relationship. Since HICC has been using the Chinese name “香港國際錢幣展銷會 (暨古董表交易會)” for 37 years, the accusation that such a name mimics other coin shows is unreasonable. HKINF intends to state firmly that the new official Chinese name of HKINF bears no relation to any other coin shows except for the Hong Kong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair (HICC).
